Location of Serial No. on Sony Stereos

do not take the serial from a user guideNever take the serial number from any printed paperwork or user guides, since this may not match the actual Sony radio fitted to the car.  Instead, take the serial number from either a label or an engraving on the top or side of your Sony stereo, to ensure the supplied Sony radio code is accurate.

Having replaced the battery on my Focus, them found that there was no radio code in any of the original sales documentation. Ford wanted 20 to get the code, which considering they had not supplied in the first place is a cheek. Once I found the serial no. then went on line to ASW and typed in the no. got a reply within a few seconds. Went out to the car inserted the code and bingo. Excellent service and for a quarter of the price. Well done. Thanks

By using our online Sony radio decoding service, you not only save yourself money, but also time and the additional hassle involved. Most vehicle main dealers will require you to book an appointment and take the car and paperwork (v5 logbook) into them before they apply for the radio code.   Once they do apply for the code, 9/10 times it will be based on your vehicle registration or VIN number of the car itself, which is fine if you have owned the car from new. However, receiving the radio code days later only to find that it did not work is yet another inconvenience.

There are a number of reasons why a stereo code based on the vehicle registration or vin number may not work, including:

At Radio-Code, we don't provide radio codes based on the car, instead we provide the code based on the individual and unique serial number of the car radio, regardless of what it was fitted to originally.  Our radio codes have proven to be more accurate than main dealer's because of this.

What our customers have to say...

Many thanks. Very good and easy to use site. Solved problem in minutes and saved a lot of money. . Mick V

I bought a second hand Fiesta and we couldnt get the code anywhere. I tried this site and I admit I was dubious the code was instant and it worked! No more silent car journeys for me! Thanks again, will recommend. Emma Grant

Great service Thank you. Radio restored within 5 minutes of receipt of code. Local dealer was to be more expensive plus a round trip for me of 90 miles. I would recommend you to any of my friends who require such a service . Edna Simpson

Thank you, worked perfectly. Rob

Great service, I have music again. All the best. Julie Cooper
